If you happen to drive by Webster Dream Park (formerly Webster Park) you will notice the old playground equipment is gone and concrete for the new park is being poured. Webster Dream Park will be constructed through a Community Build next Thursday & Friday (August 15th & 16th)! We are in need of 50+ volunteers each day to help install the playground equipment. We will be working 8am to 6pm both days, or until the playground is complete. No Construction Experience Necessary!!
If you have a few hours or a full day to help please sign up for a day and time here: https://signup.com/go/xZNuxDO
Superior Choice Credit Union is graciously donating water and snacks for all volunteers, and District 1 City Councilman, Dan Olson, will be treating volunteers to pizza for lunch each day. THANK YOU!!!
Thank you to all of our sponsors, and our wonderful community.
Without all of you, none of this would be possible!

About Webster Dream Park
Webster Dream Park, under the fiscal sponsorship of South End Days, a 501(c)3 Organization, has a mission of building an inclusive, All-Abilities Community Playground for our children and future generations. Webster Dream Park will be the first all-inclusive, all-abilities playground in Superior. The park is inspired by 8 year old Kenna Hermanson who became discouraged that her friends with disabilities were not able to play with their friends and peers due to lack of playground equipment to accomodate those with differing abilities. It is her vision to build a space to bring people of all ages and all abilities together and give them a state-of-the-art playground to interact with each other, make new friendships, create playground memories, and form healthy lifestyle changes together. There will be no “special needs” area because the park is designed to challenge all children in shoulder to shoulder play.
Webster Park is a City owned, 3.27-acre neighborhood park located in South Superior. The present playground in Webster Park is a combination of slides, swings, overhead ladder, a modular play unit and a few ground play items. Most of these items are requiring updates and repairs necesary to comply with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) guidelines. It has also been determined that the surface of the playground along with a slide and ground play items are not compliant with the American’s Disabilities Act (ADA).
Kenna has worked with the City of Superior Parks and Recreations Director Linda Cadotte, Superior Mayor Jim Paine, and her District Councilor, Dan Olson, to create a new all-inclusive, all-abilities playground. Webster Dream Park will include specialized rubberized surfacing to accommodate wheelchairs; inclusive zip lines, swings, and merry-go-rounds; talking tree stumps, sensory play equipment, climbing structures, imaginative play spaces, a sensory garden, and so much more. The park is intended to be inclusive and accessible to children of all ages.
Kenna has worked hard to get this playground in place for herself, her friends, and future children. She has presented her project to the Mayor’s Commission on Disabilities, and the City of Superior Parks and Recreation Commission, and Finance Committee who all supported funding the playground. On December 4, 2018, the City of Superior Common Council approved the project and approved funding $200,000 through the 2019 Capital Improvement Program. This amount gets us very close to the desired budget, but additional funding is still needed to create this beautiful space for Superior’s youth. We hope that you will consider becoming a friend of Webster Dream Park and making a donation today.
